Welcome to San Roque Religious Education!
Religious education and growing in our relationship with Christ is a life-long pursuit. If we seek the Lord with our whole heart, mind and soul, we are promised that we will find him:
"You will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul." (Deuteronomy 4:29)
Here are a few ways to get involved:
- Religious Education Classes: for grades K-10th including preparation for the sacraments of First Penance, First Communion and Confirmation. Classes meet on Sunday mornings from 10:45am-12:00pm in the school. Classes begin September 17, 2017 and continue through May 20, 2018.
- Become a Catechist: Teaching Religious Education is a great way to grow in your faith. All catechists must be fingerprinted by the Archdiocese and attend a course on Child Protection.
- Daily Mass: Join us for daily Mass Monday – Friday at 8:30 a.m. in the church.
If you have questions about how to grow in your spiritual life, questions about Church teaching, are interested in any of the above ministries or events, or would like to discuss starting a new ministry, please contact the Director of Religious Education at 805-687-5215.
PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION CLASSES - At San Roque Parish our Religious Education classes for K-10th grade are held on Sunday Mornings from 10:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the school. Our volunteer catechists begin each class with prayer followed by the lesson of the day and make that lesson applicable to the lives of their students.
Since parents are the primary educators of their children in the Catholic faith, several of our catechists are parents of our currently enrolled students. However, passing on the truth and beauty of the Catholic faith is something we are all called to by virtue of our baptism and those without children or with grown children can offer their time and talent to this ministry in a special way.
Classes will begin on Catechetical Sunday, September 17th, 2017 and continue through May 20, 2018 in the school.
